Top 5 'Must Have' Beauty Tools You Need In Your Makeup Bag Other Than Makeup Brushes
A painter can’t successfully complete a job with just paintbrushes, and the same goes for your daily makeup routine. Therefore the tools in your makeup bag are just as important.
A quality tool, with proper care, can last a lifetime and simplify your daily makeup application.
I've put together my top five 'must-have' beauty tools you need in your makeup bag! No matter your skill level, there are a few essential tools, other than makeup brushes, you need to have in your personal beauty bag.
1. Metal Eyelash Comb.
You know that clump of lashes sticking together after you apply your mascara? You see it in the mirror but you have no idea how to fix it. I’ve got a solution: a metal eyelash comb. Gently run this comb through your lashes in between coats of mascara, and the brush will help comb out any clumps or lumps that may have formed. Did you know that the famous Audrey Hepburn used a sewing needle to separate her eyelashes after applying mascara? She was the doe-eyed beauty who took the time to separate her individual eyelash from the root before she stepped onto her movie set. If using a sewing needle freaks you out, and let's be real, it would freak me out as well, I recommend using a metal eyelash comb. Click Here to purchase one for yourself.
2. 10x Hand Held Magnifying Mirror.
I’ve always used the magnifying mirror when I stay at hotels and I never thought about purchasing one of these for myself. I prefer a mini 10x hand-held magnifying mirror over the larger ones because I can take it with me when I travel. This hand-held magnifying mirror will come in handy when you to put the final touches on your eye makeup. Not to mention, you can see the stray hairs you need to tweeze out. I really love using this when I curl my eyelashes and apply my mascara because I can see how close I am getting to the root without pinching my skin and smudging the mascara all over. 3. 70% Isopropyl Alcohol.
You probably have a bottle of this under your sink and never thought you needed it in your makeup bag, did you?? Using 70% IPA is the most effective against most bacteria, fungi and many viruses, to sanitize your non-porous tools….eh hem, I’m looking at you, eyelash curler.
90+% isopropyl alcohol is a good second replacement if you don’t have 70% IPA, but to kill more germs and bacteria, spend the $3 and buy a bottle of 70% IPA.
Pro Tip: I like to keep mine in a small spray bottle so when I need to use it, I can easily spray my tools and wipe them down.
4. Eyelash Curler.
An eyelash curler is crucial for having perfectly curled lashes as it opens up the eyes. I know it’s scary putting this cage-like tool near your delicate lashes, but trust me, once you use one, you’ll never not use it again! My top eyelash curler brands are Shishedo, Shu Uerma and Kevyn Aucoin. These tend to have a wider-shaped curve to fit more of the almond eyes. If you’re too scared for the full-cage eyelash curler, you can use a half curler and slowly curl each section.
5. Dust Blower.
A handheld air, dust blower is a handy tool to blow away pigment fallout in any powder palette. If you blow on your makeup with your mouth, you are actually blowing microscopic spit particles onto your makeup, and that’s just gross! Pick up one of these on Amazon and keep all your powdered makeup palettes nice and clean. You can also use this dust blower on your computer keyboard, so that’s a win-win!
